While some of you dig out the Christmas trees and ugly holiday sweaters the day after Halloween, this is for the rest of us who are finally ready to embrace endless gift guides, twinkle lights and maybe even a little eggnog. Never mind cuffing season, it’s holiday season, baby.
As we switch from pumpkin spice to the sweet smell of peppermint mochas and the Hallmark channel invades your life, here are new share-worthy events for your feed in the #TorontoED when you decide to leave the house!
When: November 14 – January 6
Where: Shangri-La Hotel Toronto | 188 University Ave.
Cost: $85/adult & $35/child
High tea is a glamorous occasion year-round, but add in the magic of The Nutcracker and now you’re talking! Guaranteed, you’ll be pulling out your phones to snap stories of this elevated presentation faster than you can say “Sugar Plum Fairy”. The Shangri-La Hotel has captured the best parts of the story and infused its regular high tea menu with more enchanting pastries, dazzling drinks, tiny tea cakes, and fancy finger sandwiches – hello Atlantic Lobster Brioche Bun!
When: November 28 | 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Where: CBC Atrium | 250 Front St. W
It’s officially the appropriate time to start Christmas shopping, so why not do it while being part of a good cause? Every year, CBC holds its merry craft sale including 70+ local vendors with proceeds going towards Covenant House. Mosey around the sale for one a kind gifts and artisanal goods! Artists will be selling jewelry, specialty soaps, home décor and delightful baked goodies. We can’t wait to see what you buy!
When: November 28 | 3:30 – 6:45 p.m.
Where: Fairmont Royal York Toronto | 100 Front St. W
The Fairmont Royal York has been the city’s top holiday venue to celebrate the magic of the season. This year be dazzled at the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony and Animated Window Display with proceeds in support of Children’s Wish Foundation. It wouldn’t be an official ceremony without Santa, who’s stopping by at 3:30 p.m. along with special musical performances, and a two-story gingerbread house. Drop off your little reindeer after the ceremony and stop by The Thirsty Elf Pop-Up Bar for holiday inspired drinks, open every Thurs-Sat until December 21.
When: December 3 | 5:45 – 8:00 p.m.
Where: Ricarda’s | 134 Peter St.
Sometimes you just need an excuse to dress up for a night on the town in this gloomy weather. Ricarda’s Atrium Lights will have you feeling festive and glamorous as this annual event fills the QRC West Building. The atrium will be lit, holiday sounds will fill the air and you have the chance to mingle with the guest of honour. Hint: he’s a jolly good fellow!
When: December 10 – 12
Where: Roy Thomson Hall | 60 Simcoe St.
It wouldn’t be the holidays without the songs of the season playing on repeat on the radio, at the mall, on the TV and just about everywhere else. As much as we love to hate them, we love them even more! Embrace the festive chords at Roy Thomson Hall for a TSO concert of holiday classics. Measha Brueggergosman and a full chorus bring you 2 hours worth of beautiful sounds that will put any grinch in the holiday spirit. Get on your fancy clothes and take your date to the orchestra!
From the Toronto Entertainment District to you and your families, we wish you a happy holiday season. We’ll see you on the ‘gram!
